Pet Safety Tips for 4th of July from The Nautical Dog

July 2, 2015

Fireworks are fun right?  Not so much for our furry friends.  In fact, July 5th is the busiest day for pet shelters.  Pets get scared, run off, & get lost.  Here are some tips to help keep your pet safe during the holiday.

  • Keep your pet indoors.  Pets don't associate the loud noises & lights with fun.  Instead it creates a panic among our furry friends.
  • If you are going to a firework display, please leave your pet at home in a safe environment that they are used to.
  • Make sure your pet has proper tags & identification on.
  • Keep alcoholic drinks away from your pets.  If your pet gets intoxicated from alcohol, they can go into a coma & die.  Beer is also toxic to our pets.
  • Do not put insect repellent on your pet that is not specifically made for animals.
  • NEVER let your pet around or come into contact with fireworks.  Fireworks can cause severe burns, as well as contain deadly toxins.

We hope you have a fun & safe holiday!
