$1 Admission to the Mariners' Museum Every Day in August

August 19, 2016
One City. One Region. One Nation. One World.

The Mariners’ Museum and Park connects people to the world’s waters because that is how we are connected to one another.  The stories we tell through our world class collection are YOUR stories and YOUR history.  To celebrate the community that built us, the price of admission for all visitors to The Mariners’ Museum during the entire month of August is $1 per person!

Across our nation and the world, we see daily reminders of the forces at work pulling communities apart. During these times, we believe our Museum has an incredibly powerful narrative to tell about community and what binds us together. To inspire our community, the price of admission for all visitors who come to The Mariners’ Museum during the month of August will be $1, because through our water – through our maritime heritage – we are one city, one region, one nation, and one world.

During the month of August, there will be engaging, immersive experiences for visitors in the galleries. Volunteers and staff members will be located throughout the Museum to tell stories and share unique information about artifacts.

Every Monday, Friday, and Saturday, visitors can meet at the Chesapeake Bay Lens in the Museum’s Lobby at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to hear inspiring Naval history events that took place on the respective day. Each story will be told by author and historian John V. Quarstein and will include a 30-minute talk followed by a quick tour of a gallery or particular artifact that is related to the historic event.

After adventuring on the big screen, take the family on a paddle boat ride on Lake Maury, and relax in Newport New's oasis.
