Peninsula Fine Arts Center Offering Spring Art Session

April 3, 2014

Peninsula Fine Arts Center has new offerings for kids in thier Spring session at the Studio Art School. In addition to what’s listed below, they continue to offer Art Start, guided activities for preschoolers, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays for no additional cost, and easels are available with paint on Tuesday and Thursday Paint Days in the Hands On for Kids Gallery.

This spring, preschoolers are introduced to artistic concepts in our very beginning art classes, designed for parents to work alongside students. The classes, taught by Rosa Lee Harkrader, are $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers per class and $30 members/$40 for nonmembers for all three classes. The spring session classes include:

·         Fruity Tooty T-Shirts
Introduce your little ones to printmaking using real fruit! We’ll dip real fruit halves in fabric paint and decorate T-shirts, creating wearable art! Please bring T-shirt or cotton fabric of your choice; parents have the option of picking up dried T-shirts at a later date.
Tuesday, April 15. 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

·         Colorful Clay Pots
Preschoolers will have fun smashing and rolling air-dry clay as they create their first coil pots. Each coil can be a different color, creating functional pots perfect for storing treasures!
Saturday, May 17. 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

·         Fingers & Toes, Paint Like the Pros
Let’s get messy! We’ll head outside for this activity, using fingers and toes to paint. By the end of class, students will work together to learn how to drip and fling paint across a giant sheet of paper, just like Jackson Pollack.
