The Mariners’ Museum and Park, located in Newport News, VA has something for every family this summer.  Whether you are here to see the gigantic ancient sea monsters in Dinosaurs of the Deep, watch a 3D movie, spend the day hiking, picnicking or paddle boating in the Park, or just explore the Museum’s 35,000 artifacts, one thing is for sure--excitement and adventure await!

  • Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep. Dive into the ocean depths to discover more than 20 large-scale, magnificent skeletons including the 45-foot-long Tylosaur and replicas of other ancient marine reptiles. Play the role of a paleontologist as you dig for fossils, take a photo with the largest sea turtle ever found and so much more! Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep is open now through January 4, 2015.
  • The Explorers' Theater. Bring the Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep exhibition to life through 3D in our new Super HD cinema Explorers Theater. This permanent, high-definition theater allows visitors to transcend the museum experience into the world of undersea exploration. Now showing: Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World and D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944.
  • The Loch-In:  Dozin’ with the Dinos. Experience The Mariners’ Museum in a whole new light – the dark! This overnight  adventure will excite,  delight, and maybe have just a little fright! During the night, you will make your own dinosaur egg, explore Savage Ancient Seas gallery, dig for fossils and so much more.  There must be at least one adult for every five children.
    Time: Join us Friday August 8 at 6:30 and stay with us until Saturday August 9 at 8:30 a.m.. Includes admission to the museum Saturday.
  • Megalodon Week. The Mariners’ Museum is giving Discovery Channel’s Shark Week a prehistoric twist. Learn all about the mega-shark, the Megalodon, with family activities inside the Museum galleries. Free with admission. Time: August 3-9, 10am – 4pm
  • Summer PaleoCamps. There are still several spaces available for the summer PaleoCamps the week of July 21 and in August. Kids ages 5 to 12 years old can spend the week as a paleontologist and search for evidence of ancient creatures in The Mariners’ Museum Park. Register today!
  • Savage Saturdays. Ever wonder if dinosaurs lived where you live? Visit The Mariners’ on Savage Saturdays to find out! Become a paleontologist and sift through dirt from the Park to look for fossils. Free with Museum admission. Time: Saturdays through August, 11 a.m.-3 p.m
  • Maritime Mondays. FUN for Children! Join us Monday Mornings from 10-11:30 a.m. for a morning of engaging, learning activities for children ages 18 months to rising 5th grade. There is a theme each week. This July, children get patriotic with "Red, White and Blue" themes.
  • Boat Rental on Lake Maury. Whether a die-hard fisherman or just in need of a relaxing day, visit us and start creating your own memories of Lake Maury today.  Paddle boats, jon boats and canoes are available for rent on Lake Maury through the summer. Time: Saturdays & Sundays: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays by the Lake Summer Concert Series. Bring a blanket or favorite chair & enjoy live music by some of the area's hottest bands on the banks of Lake Maury.
