Spring break at The Mariners’ Museum!

Exciting daytime activities April 6-10.

As spring break approaches for Hampton Roads public schools, mark your calendars for family fun at The Mariners’ Museum and Park.

On April 6-10, Education stations will be set up in the Museum galleries offering LEGO stations where visitors of all ages can build a ship, among other exciting activities. These sessions will be both informative and hands-on, allowing visitors a unique experience. FREE for Members or with Museum admission!

On Thursday, April 9 at 3 p.m., The Mariners’ Museum is partnering with the National Park Service in a ringing for “Bells across the Land: A Nation Remembers Appomattox.” Civil War sites across the nation will join together for a memorable service commemorating Lee’s surrender to Grant at the Appomattox Court House.  Together we will join the nation in the ringing of the bell which will be both unforgettable and momentous. The Mariners’ Museum will be ringing the bell on the USS Monitor replica located in the USS Monitor Center. FREE for Members or with Museum admission!

Finally on Friday April 10, we invite students of all ages to participate in our Civil War Homeschool Day. This educational event is open to all public, private, and homeschooled children.  During this homeschool day, participants will explore the impact of the American Civil war on the nation’s culture and how it affects society as a whole. Participants will enjoy making crafts as they learn about life during the 1860s. Scheduled sessions will allow for a more in-depth study of various aspects of this national conflict. The Civil War Homeschool day is a ticketed event and prices start at $10. Visit MarinersMuseum.org/homeschool to get registered.
