More Than an After-school Program: Girl Scouts

March 27, 2025

We know that finding valuable and enriching experiences for your girl is a top priority. Sometimes that can be challenging when you are managing time for homework, extracurricular activities, and social schedules. While sports, arts and various clubs are popular options, there is one organization that offers a distinctive blend of character-building, skill-strengthening, friend-making and FUN: Girl Scouts!

Girl Scouts is a leadership development organization for girls, going beyond a simple after-school program, fostering courage, confidence, and character, empowering girls to make a positive impact in their communities and the world.

While earning badges is important and full of the fun of discovery, there’s so much more to Girl Scouts. This is where girls will build friendships that last a lifetime and become part of a supportive community. This level of acceptance and security gives girls the confidence to be themselves and to try new things. It helps them get first-hand experience as a team member who is there to cheer other girls on to success. It’s the support that can help get them up on tough mornings, raise their hand in class, and even climb to the top of that rock wall at camp that seemed a little scary when they first set eyes on it.

It’s an opportunity to provide your daughter with a well-rounded experience that combines education, fun, and service. By joining Girl Scouts, she will not only gain valuable skills and experiences, but also become part of a tradition that has been shaping confident, compassionate leaders for more than 100 years!

Now is a great time to get involved through the Girl Scouts’ extended year membership plan that offers summer activities! And, parents can choose Girl Scout Camp for an amazing summer experience that is open to all girls, regardless of membership! There are day and overnight camp sessions; registration is open through June 1, 2025. (https://www.gsccc.org/en/discover/our-council/visit/summer-camp.html).
