The spring session includes two classes embracing the season: Garden Stepping Stones and Basic Bonsai, offering a one-day workshop on how to shape and style a miniature potted tree. Students interested in learning how to fling paint like a master can take a one-day class called Paint It Like Pollock, to be offered at 10:30 a.m. May 9 for $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers.
New glass classes include Photographic Decal Glass, a one-day session focused on transferring images to glass, creating a contemporary memento. The class will be offered at 10 a.m. May 7 for $35 members and $45 for nonmembers.
Children can come in and enjoy classes like Mom & Me Fused Glass Jewelry Class or Paint a Pot, showing students how to plant seeds in their own hand-painted pots. Teenagers can take Throwing on the Wheel, where they can learn how to create their own pottery, while students 9-13 can take a two-session class to learn how to make their own pinatas (May 2 and 9).
Business Review
For summer 2015, PFAC has revamped its ArtVentures camps for summer 2015, with both full-day (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and half-day (9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m.) options available. Every week will now feature both morning and afternoon sessions for ages 5-8 and 9-12, with early drop-off between 8-9 a.m. and late pick-up between 4-5 p.m. Full-day camps will be $175 for members and $200 for nonmembers. Half-day camps will be $95 for members and $115 for nonmembers.
There are four themed week packages available for kids including: Ancient Civilizations, exploring art from Greece, Rome, Egypt and Mali; Don’t Try This at Home (a chance to get messy with dye, paint and clay); Mini Masterpieces, taking inspiration from the biggest names in art; and The Great Outdoors, incorporating nature into artwork. The final week of classes will be June 2- 7. Registration for PFAC’s Summer 2015 classes will be open for members from May 19-24, with open registration becoming available May 26. Summer classes will begin the week of June 16-21 and end August 18-23.
