Mad Science is all about getting kids excited about science! We offer school programs, birthday parties, and summer camps throughout the Hampton Roads area. Our camps keep kids engaged and learning during the summer break through hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations. Mad Science has camp locations in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg. Our camps are half-day specialty science camps, but some locations offer afternoon camps so your child can have full-day care. For summer 2024, Mad Science is offering the following camp themes: Crazy Chemworks Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist! This week of chemistry is packed solid with cool reactions. Campers work to change liquids to solid and back again. They get to handle laboratory tools, build and break molecules, and pick up some tricks on chemical changes. Campers will also compete in the Slime Olympics! BRIXOLOGY Let the tinkering begin! Campers will get hands-on with LEGO® bricks to construct various projects. From assembling a space station to building boats and vehicles, campers will explore the many facets of engineering. Your future engineer will build upon their creativity to solve real world design challenges. Each day features a take-home project your camper can use at home with other LEGO® sets. Secret Agent Lab Focus on the science of forensics in this hands-on look at crime scenes. Identify and collect evidence, from fingerprints to tracks to trash! Recreate the scene of a crime using clues and detailed observations. Become a super sleuth and learn some of the clever tricks that spies use! Bring home items every day including the Fingerprint Finder, Secret Code Breaker, Spyglasses & more! Guts, Goo, & Gross Science Use your skills as a creepy chemist to make your own radically gross reactions! Compare fingerprints and discover the mysteries of DNA as you step into the shoes of a crime scene investigator. Make "brain goo" and get into your “guts” with an introduction to the body systems. Discover cool and yucky chemical reactions in this hands-on adventure!
