Children's Museum of Virginia Holiday Events

Snow Wonders
Friday and Saturday, November 27 & 28

5:30, 6:30 & 7:30PM – Snow will fall from the sky, music will fill the air and we hope that it brings back fond memories from other places you may have lived and enjoyed in the past.   Children’s Museum of Virginia (outside in mall area).  Free.

Beazley Planetarium Shows

Friday and Saturday, November 27 & 28  @ 7 PM

Let it Snow!  The show features anew variety of festive classics from Sinatra and Chuck Berry to Burle Ives and Brenda Lee. There is a stunning multi-media final by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  Feel free to sing along with these classics in the Beazley Planetarium.


Friday, November 27th:

Pony Rides

1 – 4PM – Free pony rides for those who have purchased a Holiday Pass, Winter Wonderland admission or admission to the Children’s Museum of Virginia.  $5 for all others.

 

Make-N-Take

10 - Noon; 2 - 4 PM; 5 - 8PM - Spread holiday cheer as you make gifts to give others.

STEM Studio

10:30AM – 12:30 PM & 2:30 – 4:30 PM – Come by the STEM Studio for activities that are hands on and appropriate for the entire family.  Each week will feature a different activity related to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) concept and the holiday season.

 

Children’s Theater of Hampton Roads Presents: Uncle Wiggly’s Christmas Carol

1PM & 3:30PM – Celebrate the season with Uncle Wiggly and his forest friends in the adaption of Charles Dicken’s classic tale.  A charming and original play that is great for the entire family.

Sunday, November 29th:

Make-N-Take

Noon– 4PM - Spread holiday cheer as you make gifts to give others.

 


Show Stopping Sunday

12:30 PM; 2PM and 3:30 PM – Stop by the art classroom for a show stopping holiday display.  Examples include an interactive winter story time, an exciting educational program or special guest. The Rainbow Puppets Presents: The Mother Goose Christmas Show

1PM & 2:30PM – Rainbow Puppets: The Mother Goose Christmas Show will be the first presentation of this show in about 15 or 20 years. It features brand new narration by Jan Rooney and new recording of some of the original children’s songs.


The museum is now open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm, and Sunday from 11 am – 5 pm.

Manic Monday

Laugh, sing, and move to the music and stories to start your week off right! 
10:30 am and 3 pm

Transportation Tuesday

Get ready to learn about transportation! Activity examples include: taking a spin on our Roller Racer, paper airplane races, train activities and more! 10:30 am and 3 pm

Wacky Wednesday 

Get moving with a wacky activity on the second floor. The wackiness might include obstacle courses, tossing around the solar system with a parachute or giant floor bowling!
10:30 am and 3 pm

Throwback Thursday 

Enjoy a blast from the past with an activity of yesteryear. You may find an old time carnival game upstairs or hula hoops and jump ropes! 10:30 am and 3 pm

Get Fit Friday

Join us upstairs for a physically fit activity!  
10:30 am and 3 pm

STEM Studio Saturday

Come by the STEM Studio for activities that are hands-on and appropriate for the entire family to do together. Each week will feature a different activity related to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concept. Studio Hours are 10:30 am - 12:30 pm and 2:30 - 4:30 pm. 

Make N Take Saturday

Stop by the Make N Take Room for a fun themed craft. Room hours 10 am - Noon and 2 - 4 pm.
